Providing recreational outlets has proven to be important to the citizens of Randolph County. In the summer of 2007, Moberly residents overwhelmingly decided to support their park department building a new aquatic facility, among other major park improvements. The new Moberly Aquatic Center is a 264,000 gallon pool with a filtration rate of 800 gallons per minute. In its first two years of operation, it has seen a 600% increase in use over the old facility. It features zero-depth entry for little swimmers, a bucket-dump, and an activity station for getting good and soaked. You’ll enjoy the lazy river, two large slides, and diving boards for the more advanced swimmers. Several canopied areas give families a shaded place to hang out.

Another great place to play is the Randolph Area YMCA facility that opened in 2007. The Y houses a six lane indoor pool, basketball court, racquetball court, fitness room, and community meeting rooms. The facility was built because of the generosity of Randolph County citizens that donated during a very successful capital campaign.

One of the crowns jewels of recreation in Randolph County is Rothwell Park in Moberly, one of the largest municipal parks in Missouri. The park features over 450 wooded acres and 50 acres of lakes. In addition to housing the Moberly Aquatic Center and the county fair grounds, there are several ball fields, tennis courts, an archery range, playgrounds, and cookout shelters. Fishing is popular in the large lakes of the park. The Paul Walker Walking Trail winds through Rothwell Park around the lakes. It can be used by both joggers and casual walkers throughout the year, as the Parks Department makes clearing the trail a priority in the winter. For those that want to walk indoors, the Moberly Area Community College Athletic Center contains a 1/8 mile track open to the public.
